Brief Answer:
Follow up with primary provider if Hiccups last for more than 48 hours

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you for trusting HealthcareMagic

It is very common for hiccups to last up to 48 hours. There is nothing to be worried about. Drink a full glass of water rapidly, bite on ginger to try alleviate the hiccups.
If the hiccups last for more than 48 hours follow up with your primary provider to rule out other causes for hiccups including GERD, phrenoc nerve irritation, stroke,Kidney issues etc. Your doctor will perform detailed physical and neurologic examination and will prescribe additional test of needed.
Persistent hiccups lasting for more than 48 hours can be treated with Baclofen 10 mg 3 times a day, after ruling out other medical conditions.
Since you do not have any other associated symptoms, underlying medical conditions contributing to hiccups is unlikely. Your hiccups will most likely subside in next 24-48 hours.
