Hi , My Son Has Been Getting Fever Since Monday
Question: Hi , My son has been getting fever since monday and has developed severe cough since last 1.5 days with yesterday being quite worse.
Doctor had told us to give meftal every 6 hours and we did so . For the first 2.5 days the fever came only in 9-10 hours but since yesterday evening it came in 5.5 hours despite meftal. So we gave calpol which held the fever for 6 hours. But our son is non stop coughing since yesterday night. Doctor told us to give ascoril yesterday evening and post that the cough has only worsened as he was having a hard time sleeping due to non stop cough. We gave duolin last night and some steam but nothing helped. Now doctor is saying give syrup XXXXXXX and stop ascoril if it makes things worse. We beleive our son has been reacting to ascoril and it only increases the cough as we have seen in the past. We need some help with how to stop cough as it is quite hard on our son and his chest has also started to pain.

If paracetamol is not effective in bringing down the temperature, you need to use Meftal-P (mefenamic acid) which is more effective. The minimum gap between two doses of paracetamol is 4-6 hours. The doses of Crocin and Meftal P are independent of each other. Minimum gap between doses of Meftal P is 6-8 hours.

Hi thanks for the reply . We had started XXXXXXX and it has helped in cough . Our doctor suggested we stop Ascoril if we think it increases cough and suggested we start XXXXXXX as that would help in non stop coughing. XXXXXXX has helped a bit is there any harm in continuing XXXXXXX as we have stopped Ascoril . We have only given one dose of XXXXXXX for now. Coming to steam is it ok if we run shower in bathroom and give . How many times should we give steam .
Also wanted to check as it’s monsoon and heavy rains does the moist air cause cough. Is it better to keep windows closed or open. Does ac help or fan helps in cough just asking because what will help for cough as yesterday was quite tough for us and our kid due to coughing throughout evening and night time
Can we give orsl or will the orange flavour etc increase the cough as people say vitamin c etc are not good for cough And Increases
Also for Ascoril if it increases cough what’s the use especially when it’s non stop so please let us know the same

Hi our doctor has started Mox clav anti biotic and duolin nebuliser.
Post Duolin the coughing increased a lot , does it also work as a expectorant
and is mox clav anti biotic for fever or for chest infection.
Right now the medicines are Meftal , XXXXXXX , Levolin , Mox Clav and Duolin.
Cough is there and has not come down while for fever its quite strange it comes in 10-12 hours in day time and by evening and night comes 5-6 hours despite meftal.
Please do let us know what is to be done as this is the first time the fever has stayed for 5 days and despite meftal isnt breaking as it should. Before , meftal used to really help with fever and fever used to go in 2-3-4 days but this time its quite wierd.
Also the momentum of fever is weird and is not indicating where it is going. Every day when it does not come for 10-11 hours we feel its good but then by evening it comes in 5-6 hours.
i feel because we dont give XXXXXXX or levolin in morning and give only after 11-12 pm , post that fever starts to come in 2-3 hours could this be a right assumption and also in the evening since we give XXXXXXX levolin close to dinner time the fever comes by 10-11 PM. i know this is sounding a bit wierd but the difference in fever i can only attribute to this thing that we are doing different.
