Itching in between the thigh folds is most commonly due to fungal infection. As this area is warm and moist, it provides a favorable environment for the fungal growth.

It responds well to topical anti fungal creams like terbinafine or miconazole or clotrimazole. So you may use any one of these. You may apply it twice a day.

But at times oral anti fungals like fluconazole or terbinafine may be required to prevent recurrences which are available by prescription.

Oral anti histaminic like cetrizine may be taken to treat itching and break the scratch itch cycle where in scratching due to itching increases the intensity of itching.

There are apparently no side effects while using these creams near genital areas.

Sensitization may occur but chances are almost the same when applied to any other areas of the body. Redness, itching, burning, blistering, swelling, oozing is indicative of possible sensitization.
In that case you may immediately stop using it and seek medical help.
