Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.

The symptoms that you have mentioned are suggestive of contact dermatitis to the hair color. Treatment is by oral antihistaminics and topical steroids. Oral antihistaminics relieve itching and you can get them over the counter but some of them may cause drowsiness and hence should be taken under medical guidance. Topical steroids is available by prescription from a dermatologist.

In addition you can apply calamine lotion which will help in soothing the skin and your client should take some vitamin C which is a general anti-allergy supplement. It helps stabilize mast cells so they are less likely to release histamine.

Hope this answers your query. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries.

Wishing you good health.

Do you think the alcohol had anything to do with it ? Along with the anti dandruff shampoo ? As this has never happened before

Hello,

Thanks for writing back.

It looks like a local allergic reaction rather than interaction of the hair color with alcohol or anti dandruff shampoo. That is the reason that she had the symptoms after 24 hours. Your client may be allergic to any of the constituents of the hair color.
