Does Intake Of Spironolactone Help In Treating Elevated Testosterone Levels?

Question: 61 year old female,overweight,,,went to dr. With hair loss. She checked my thyroid, iron, and testosterone levels. All were fine except testosterone was high at 288. She prescribed spironolactone 50mg. Once a day. Why would my testosterone be so high? And is this the recommended treatment?

You are wondering why your testosterone levels would be high. Thew reason is due to the obesity. The fatty tissues will convert normal female hormones to testosterone. If you can loss the weight the extra conversion to testosterone will stop. Then spironolacone help prevent that extra conversion.
