Does Healing After Drainage And Debridement Of Infected Abdominal Seroma Take Long Time?

default
Posted on Mon, 19 Dec 2016
Question: I have a seroma in my abdomen and the Dr wants to wait until Monday AM to have a radiologist insert a drain. I had abdominal correction on Nov 9th. and it has drained since then. It drains a little, all of the time and once every three days---it gushes!
Am I ok to wait this long?

Brief Answer:
Yes, you may.

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Read the history and understood your concerns.
To recapitulate: Female/70 - abdominal correction on Nov 9 - draining since then - drains the way you explained - padding - Dr wants to wait until Monday AM for Radiologist to insert a drain - wants to know whether OK to wait this long...

Since the dissection is extensive in abdominal correction, there is large bare area wherein the opposing surfaces are not allowed to come in contact with each other by any collection, be it a seroma, a hematoma or any collection.
Once the seroma drains out and not allowed to collect, the opposing surfaces come in close contact to avoid dead space and allow healing.

Yes, surely you can wait this long.
No need to worry on this point.
Also take multivitamins as they act as anti-oxidants and help better and faster healing.

I hope this answers your query.
