Brief Answer:
Yes it does hurt Acid Reflux or GERD.

Detailed Answer:
Welcome to HCM: Please note that most of not all carbonated drinks will worsen you acid reflux symptoms. Also note that spicy foods do the same, also avoid drinking or having large meals right before bed as this further aggravates acid reflux symptoms. I hope this helps, good luck.

I am 56 years old and about 50 pounds overweight. I have had problems with acid reflux which seems to be under control now with medication. Three days ago I started having a fluttering feeling just below my sterum area. It has continued off and on now for 3 days. It is not painful, and I am pretty sure it is not my heart. I started a healthy lowfat diet and have been walking approximately 40 minutes a day for at least 5 days a week for the last 3 months. I have lost 12 pounds. I have been feeling better and more energetic, until these flutterings ( or spasms) started. They just a nuisance;but , I do wonder what they are and wherther or not I should see a doctor. Over the last couple of years, my family doctor has sent me to a cardiologist and gastro specialists who determined my heart was fine, and that I had acid reflux.
