Does Levaquin Interact With Celexa?

Question: I have been diagnosed with pneumonia and was given levaquin 750 mg tables (10) each and I also take Celexa 20 mg tables (have been on this med for a long time. How bad of a reaction should I expect. Pharmisist said that heart arythmia (sp) might be a problem

I understand your concern and would explain that both these drugs can lead to QT interval prolongation in ECG, thus increasing the risk of cardiac arrhythmia.

These adverse effects are more pronounced in susceptible persons ( suffering from cardiac arrhythmia or with an abnormal ECG).

Anyway, the risk is dose dependent, which means that it is very low when low or average doses are used.

So, just relax.

If you experience palpitations under this therapy, I recommend going to the ER for a resting ECG.
