Can Pneumonia Reoccur Despite Being On Levaquin And Augmentin?

Question: Had pneumonia last Thursday, Thanksgiving day. Prescribed Augmentin for 5 days. Did not work, returned to ED on 11/27 with same symptoms. Prescribed Levaquin 500mg for 7 days. Seemed to clear it up. Today, I am getting return symptoms. Raspy cough, breathless and oxygen level at 94 when it was 98 a couple of days ago. Could the pneumonia have come back?

Hello and welcome in HCM

As you explain the history there are two possibilities that might be happened :

1.It might be that the pneumonia might not be resolved completely given your COPD which coexists

or

2.Maybe due to the pneumonia the status of your COPD might be worsen a litlle and the treatment of copd should be strengthened.
(for example with i/v steroids and nebulizer )
If you were my patient i would do a chest X Ray and a Spirometry test to you for exploring the above.
