Thank you for the query.
It is unlikely for heart problem to occur because of GERD.
Rarely that anxiety is associated with GERD and anxiety can cause palpitations also.
Some times heart problems like an heart attack can give symptoms like GERD and cause palpitation also with is when we need to be careful before labelling chest symptoms due to heart disease as due to GERD.
Hence worthwhile to get an ECG and evaluate for heart disease if symptoms are related to exertion, associated with breathlessness, in elderly, diabetics, hypertensive population.
