Posted on Fri, 13 Oct 2017
Question: Hi Doctor, I recently had my kidneys checked because they run slow from time to time. My kidenys came back normal for the first time in a while, however on my CBC test, I had Monocytes (Absolute) that was high. It was 1.0. My WBC is 10.7 The test I that were ran on me were Basic Metabolic Panel (8), Urinalysis, Complete and CBC. The only thing that came back high was the Monocytes (Absolute) Do I have anything to worry about? I will also add, that I am 48 years old, and about a year ago I had prostate cancer that was removed. All has been good with that so far. I am just worried about this Monocytes (Absolute) because after reading on it, it talks about Lekimiua . An during my Prostate scare they were talking about taking care of the prostate cancer as it could get in your bones.

Brief Answer:
There is nothing to be worried about

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you for trusting HealthcareMagic for your health concern

Monocyte level of 1% is only marginally increased. There is nothing to be worried about.
In case of leukemia the total WBC count will be markedly increased/decreased with large number of immature granulocytes. Your blood report clearly mentions the absence of any such immature cells. You monocyte level is not at all concerning for leukemia, prostrate cancer metastasis or any other issues. You can relax.
