Question: Hello Doctor,

Me and my girl friend had dry sex on april 30, 2016. It didnt have any penetration and ejacuation. She took ipill and she had delayed periods and cramps. During that time, she had observed burning sensation in her vagina. We consulted doctor and diagnosed for UTI. Later, She observed pain in pelvic region and we consulted doctor. Doctor said it can be Pelvic inflamatory disease. She has gone for Ultrasound scan and CT Scans and Doctor said there is no problem for her. After that she didnt observe any pelvic pain.
Can CT Scan detect Pelvic infection. Did she had Pelvic inflamatory disease at that time. Will she have any problem in future.

Brief Answer:
I don't think that. Kindly see detailed answer.

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

I can understand your concern. Please Let me know that whether she had fever, vaginal discharge at that time? Kindly follow with details. Pelvic inflammatory disease can be diagnosed by proper history and examination. CT scan can rule out any internal organ involvement.

At present she do not have pelvic pain and investigations are normal, so I think it might got resolved. To avoid such problems in future, take proper precautions, maintain proper hygiene. Kindly follow if you have any query. Take care.

Hi Doctor,
Thanks for the reply. She didnt have any fever or flue at that tym. We have done urine culture and urine routine many times at that time. In beginning, the results used to be bacteria present. After the medicines taken, it came to no bacteria in urine culture and insignificant bacteria in Urine routine. She used to experience mild pain for few days like2/10. Doctor told that is bowl moments. So, after medication it reduced.
After October 2016 she doesn' have any pains in the pelvic region. But after she took ipill, she started to have brown colour spotting at the start of periods.
Can we know what is this brown spotting. Is it due to old blood or any infection.
Can she still have any problem. Should i also go through health check.
Will she have any problem in future like infertility. Please help.

Hello and welcome back.

I can understand your concern. As she does not have a fever or any other symptoms and other investigations are also normal, so I think infection might get resolved.

Brown colored spotting at the start of periods is normal. It may be due to old blood. Color may change during the menstrual cycle. I think For that no need of any further health check-up. It will not cause any problem in future including infertility. Kindly follow measures as explained earlier. Kindly follow up if you have any query. Take care.
