Can Alcohol Be Consumed While On Xanax?

default
Posted on Mon, 10 Aug 2015
Question: Hello
I am prescribed Xanax .25 for use during anxiety attacks. I rarely have them anymore(2 years before today). I had one this morning around 8 am and took half of a .25 milligram Xanax. I then worked outdoors all day ate normal and forgot about the medication. Then around 10:30 pm I had 4 beers over about 3 hours. I do not feel any more intoxicated than normal from that amount of drinks but I am now giving myself anxiety thinking I drank too soon post ingestion of meds. Am I in any immediate danger?

Brief Answer:
it's not a high dose for xanax but you should avoid drinking

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

the dose you've taken (0.25 mg) is a very low one, so you shouldn't worry too much but you should avoid drinking while taking it because the outcome cannot be predicted. Some individuals may be more susceptible to nervous system depression than others. There is no danger for your life. Just avoid driving and getting yourself into situations where a loss of balance or sleepiness could result to injury.

Kind Regards!
