Can Suboxone Be Taken A Day Before HIDA Scan?

default
Posted on Thu, 11 Dec 2014
Question: I have a HIDA scan tomorrow at 10am. Is it okay to take a full 8mg strip of suboxone right now (9:30am)? Or is the half life too long on suboxone? Should I just tough it out until the scan is done?
Thanks

This medication should not have any affect on your plan imaging study. You should continue medication as prescribed.

Thank you for the response. The tes was actually scheduled for this morning but they cancelled it because I took suboxone right before the test. It is not a narcotic like other painkillers so I was also confused by this. Do you believe it to be totally safe to continue with normal dose, or should I stop now?t

Detailed Answer:
thanks for the additional question.

I would not discontinue taking this medication without the consent of your primary care physician. I will talk to your primary doctor before doing this. I'm not familiar with any reason why this medication would affect the results of your scan.

Sincerely,
