Can Lipitor Cause Brain Damage?

default
Posted on Wed, 11 Jan 2017
Question: Tw question. What are the side effects of this medication
I am 87 years old and know a lot medications I can use and witch not.
My Dr. knows exactly that I have troubles with most medication even
aspirin 320 I can not take. I was in the hospital for a cauterization
operation which came out perfectly. My Doctor who knee very well that
I only can take certain medications (Colchicine for the Gout and blood
Clopidogrel 75 MG. Which I take for years.
In the 7 dais he had them give me Statins Lipitor and several others
Which resulted in brain damage.
I am brain damaged and would like to find out it there is any cure for
the betterment of this problem. My Cardiologist Got very upset when he
found out about this and immediately called him and talked to him in a way
that I could see in a manner that I could see it was not amiably.
I can see that I probably will be living with this unacceptable condition for the
for the few months or years I have left. My condition when I entered the hospital
Was extremely good now it looks more like a 87 years old man.

I do not expect a answer. I would like to know only if there is something I can do to help. Can not even walk without a walker and when the lights are out or I cant see, I fall. Occasional pain in the brain that I can not describe as a Headache.
Instead of getting better it is getting worse. I wonder if this could be deadly.
Thanks for your answer even if you have no answer for me. Doctors tell me I look good for my age and that my problem was because of my age. Since I have this problem I aged to my age.

Brief Answer:
More information is needed.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I read your question carefully and I understand your concern.

I fear some more information is needed though. You mention to have had several pills, but mention by name only Lipitor which doesn't cause brain damage, on the contrary it is commonly used to prevent stroke. So if the brain damage was due to medication it must be due to those other pills of which I can't speak since you do not mention their names. As for Lipitor side effects they are uncommon, mostly in the form of muscle or liver damage, usually reversible once it's stopped.

The other piece of information it is missing apart from the full medication list is what type of brain damage you are referring to... was it a brain infarction, a hemorrhage, toxic effects of drugs etc ? Also what was the location of the damage ?

I realize it may be difficult at times to understand these details. In that case, if you could provide some reports, some discharge papers, imaging reports or any type of document which contains some information on tests and diagnosis it might be useful. You can simply snap a photo of them and upload on the reports section.

I would be happy to at least try to help you once you provide some of the above information.

Regards
