Can HIV Be Contracted Through Oral Sex?

default
Posted on Thu, 20 Aug 2015
Question: I would like a second opinion. I had oral sex with a man 6 weeks ago. No ejaculate in my mouth, but maybe precum. I have not had any symptoms of HIV. I have taken three Oraquick at home swab tests over three days. All negative. How concerned should i be about HIV infection, and is the Oraquick testing reliable.

Brief Answer:
No such case ever reported.

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Thanks for your query at HCM
I understand your concern and situation.

I would like to tell you that the small drops of fluid that may come out of the penis during sexual arousal and before ejaculation called as precum often contain HIV, but i must tell you the concentration of HIV in precum is usually not high enough to pose a significant risk of infection. As there have been no case reports of HIV by this way so you have no reason for you to worry much. But to be on the safer side it is better you took screening test. Yes oraquick is a sensitive test about 93% but it is only a screening test. It need to be confirmed by a more sensitive test like 4 th generation ELISA test after12 weeks post exposure. So I suggest you to take one more ELISA test for confirmation.
