Are Green Potatoes Safe To Eat During Pregnancy?

default
Posted on Tue, 9 Aug 2016
Question: I am six weeks pregnant and I just ate like a pound and a half of green potatoes for supper. I thought they just weren't ripe. But when I looked it up it seems they might be toxic and harmful to my baby. What should I do?

Brief Answer:
As below

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
Well, am sure you would have thoroughly washed and cleaned them atleast.
Do not worry, as you have already eaten them.
They would not be toxic for the baby, but they may lead to an upset tummy, rarely food poisoning for you.
Were they well cooked ?
Just wait and watch.
Stick to a simple home cooked bland diet for now, and if you have nausea / vomiting / diarrhoea, then go to the ER.
DO not worry, the baby will be safe.
If you are very anxious, you may go the ER now itself and report the condition so that they might observe you for a few hours.
All the best.
Please feel free to discuss further.
