Question: I had very risky hiv exposure with one prostitute. Unprotected vaginal sex. I came to know after 1 month that she was hiv positive. I tested with hiv antibody test 4 times afterwards. After 3 months, afterv6 months, after 1 year and after 1 year 6 months. All through 3rd generation antibody test. All negative. Shall i consider it conclusive?
I have persistent cough after the incident which is still exist. I checked Total IgE and have high IgE level. Whereas IgA IgG IgM are within limit. I have Complete blood check and have high eosinophil. Since last 5 days i m suffering from loose motion. I dont have fever or other health problems. Shall I alley hiv fear 100 %? Or need more tests.

Brief Answer:
You are free from HIV. No further testing required.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Welcome and thanks for posting your query to the forum.

I can understand your concern for the possibility of HIV after the incidence.

Going through your complete history along with the details of the testing diligently let me first reassure you that you are free from HIV.

It is on the basis of the scientific and medical fact that the longest period of third generation test to become positive is around 84 days. Anything coming negative after that period is considered to be conclusive. Many a times 6 months are considered to be the most appropriate time for declaring complete negative status.

In your case it is way beyond 6 months also. So I reassure you fully that there is no need to go for any further testing.

Regarding your high IgE level as well as eosinophil count with other of the problems. These are unrelated to HIV. These are basically simple medical condition which can occur in anyone. This can occur in persistent eosinophilia and can be completely cured by proper simple treatment.

I suggest you to meet a physician and seek medical advice for the same.

I hope you must be relaxed to know the simple facts regarding your query.

One doctor suggested me to go for western blot test. He said though you have symptoms you better go for western blot test. Is it really require?
To check how my immunity working i went through immunoglobulin test. I have high IgE 1836. My IgA is 4.05 instead 4 which is normal. IgG and IgM is normal. Do you think I have problem with immunity that i can be late seroconverted?

Brief Answer:
There is no Need of western blot test. Meet a physician.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Welcome back and thanks for your further follow up.

Regarding your further queries :

In my opinion and experience there is no need to go for any further testing including western blot test or any other test. ELISA is conclusive test and you have spent enough of time to be declared as negative for HIV.

For the part of immunoglobulin levels: it is only IgE which is raised. The rest of immunoglobulin including IgA is quite normal. Just 0.5 raised value of IgA is non significant. So allay all your fears regarding any correlation of present problems with HIV.

I suggest you to meet a proper physician and discuss all your problems keeping aside HIV.

I hope this helps.

With good health wishes,

Brief Answer:
Probability of an allergic phenomenon rather than HIV.

Detailed Answer:
Hello young fellow,

Welcome back and thanks for your swift follow up. In my experience your immune system is quite fine. There is no correlation of HIV with your present problems. Rather you should know that in HIV there is suppression of immune system rather than elevation. In your case there is an elevation of immunoglobulin level.

There is specific point of raised IgE level which depicts probability of an allergic phenomenon rather than any immune suppressing condition.

So allay all your fears completely and relax.

My best wishes for your healthy life.

With regards,

Dr Sanjay Kanodia
