Question: Hello I am 27 years old male. I've been working out for one year regularly (gym 4 times a week and golf everyday) two years ago but now i don't exercise anymore. Is it normal that ly pulse pressure is always more than 40 as I have read in the internet that a pulse pressure greater than 40 is not good.
My blood pressure is on average 125/65.
Here is attached my last blood pressure check.
Should it be a concern or not ?
Thank you

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Welcome and thank you for asking on HCM!

I understand your concern and would explain that your blood pressure values are quite normal.

This pulse pressure could be because of the blood pressure machine accuracy or due to a physically trained body.

You should know that a wide pulse pressure is quite common in athletic bodies and does not indicate any serious medical condition.

From the other hand your heart rate is perfectly normal.

Anyway, I would recommend trying to measure your blood pressure with a different blood pressure machine.

If this pulse pressure persists in different measurements with different blood pressure machines, I would recommend consulting with your attending physician for a physical exam and a routine check up:

- a chest X ray study
- a resting ECG
- complete blood count for anemia
- thyroid hormone levels for thyroid dysfunction
- blood electrolyte levels
- a urine analysis.

If these tests result normal, there is nothing to worry about. It would be probably because of your physical constitution.

Hope to have been helpful!

If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to ask me again!

Wishing good health,

Dr. Iliri
