What Causes Anxiety And Sleeping Trouble After Switching From Xanax To Ativan?

Hi I am dealing with bad anxiety and have been having trouble sleeping ..I was taking 1mg of xanex but now she put me on .5 Ativan to see if it helped..I think I did worse last night than what I do with the xanex ..was just wondering if it may just take a few night to start working or should it have worked the first night of taking it....I also take 20 mg of prosac and .10 of melatonin at night along with this stuff..Pleas any advise you have would be greatly appreciated...I am so tired!

Switching from 1mg xanax to 0.5mg ativan is inadequate dosing.
Equvalent dose of 1mg xanax is 4mg of ativan.
I think your anxiety and sleeping trouble are a a sort of withdrawal symptoms as you have been given inadequate doses while switching.

You might continually experience these symptoms. A gradual taper of dose should be considered. There is no benefit of changing from xanax to ativan.
Kindly discuss this with your doctor.
Please continue with your prozac and melatonin.
