Experiencing Irregular Periods Since 12 Years. Stress. Done With Ultrasound. Not Experiencing Abdominal Pain Before Period?

Over the years i have missed periods, was told by doctor it was stress. I am 5' 5" in height and weigh 175 lbs. I am experierncing this problem about 12 years now. I did utra sound and everythings was ok. Uterus etc. I pass little blood before period sometimes. In some cases that little blood may be all without an actual period. I do not experience abnominal pain. one syntoms i experience before period should it come is tender breast.

Thanks for posting your query.

The condition you are having is called anovulation or oligo ovulation which simply means that the egg does not released on time, so the menstrual cycles are delayed. This also explains the absence of premenstrual symptoms, pre menstrual spotting and scanty bleeding.

As you have said stress may be one reason. Other reasons are hormonal conditions like thyroid disturbance , high prolactin levels or PCOS.
These can be checked with blood tests . You had mentioned scan is normal. In that case PCOS is unlikely.

If bloods are normal for thyroid and prolactin we need to do FSH and LH hormone assays on the second day of your period(natural or induced).

If those are normal , then you can go on the pill to give you predictable cycles until you are ready to start your family.

Hope this helps, take care!
