Dry Throat. Previous Thyroid Tuberculosis. Thyroid Disease?

Hi
I am 33 year old female.

I feel dryness in throat all the time though i keep drinking lots of water. Is it due to thyroid disease?

I had thyroid tuberculosis when I was 17 year old and 23 year old. Got treatment for it for 2 years and Im very fine since then.

Plz help. What could be the reason for dryness in throat?

Hello,
welcome to Healthcare Magic.

Thyroid tuberculosis may lead to hypothyroidism. First, In your case get your thyroid profile (serum T3/T4 and TSH level) done to rule out hypo or hyperthyroidism. Tubercular infection of salivary glands can lead to dryness of mouth. Evaluation by general physician will be helpful in such case.

Thyroid imbalance also lead to anxiety symptoms. Anxiety may lead to dry mouth and increase frequency of drinking water. Other symptoms of anxiety which may or may not be present in your case: nervousness, restlessness, mild irritability, excessive worry regarding own health, tremor, muscle spasm, heaviness in body, easy fatigability, headache, sleep disturbance, palpitation and dry mouth.

If you have some of these symptoms than you can visit nearby psychiatrist for evaluation.

Wish you good health and all the best.

Regards,
