Pain In Right Shoulder, Upper Arm, Sound. Had Suspected Rotator Cuff Tear 6 Months Back. Scheduled For MRI

I have a suspected rotator cuff tear in my left shoulder after a severe fall about 6 months ago...for the past 2 months I have been having similar pains in my right shoulder and right upper ar
m also...along with a lot of "clicking and clacking" that comes and goes when I make certain movements. Why would I be having pain now on the opposite side? The let side is greatly improved, but still very painful when I go to bed and when I wake up in the mornings.
I have an MRI scheduled...but I'm also concerned that if the shoulder has healed the MRI wont show anything and I will sound like a hypochondriac........Please tell me what u think.......Thank you!

Hi.Thanks for writing us on HCM.
Early diagnosis and treatment of a rotator cuff tear may prevent symptoms such as loss of strength and loss of motion from setting in.If the symptoms like pain/weakness are increasing (seen particularly in certain position as in your case -while going to bed) etc it is better to get and MRI done plan for further management since there might be extension of existing tear.Even though most tears cannot heal on their own, satisfactory function can often be achieved without surgery. But mangement plan can be decided only on the extent of tear/injury.Discuss with your doctor for further management.Hope this helps.Take care.
