Would Numbness And Tingling Sensation In Left Side Of Body With Headaches Be Considered Transient Ischemic Attack?

Hello. I went to the doctor today because I ve been having numbness and a tingling feeling on the left side of my body for about the last 2 weeks. A couple of times I ve had a sharp painful headache at the same time on the right side of my head. Also a couple of times I ve had a strange feeling in my left arm. I don t seem to lose any strength in this arm but it is as if there is no feeling in it. The symptoms disappear after 30 mins or so, but I had one today lasting about 4 hours. My father had similar symptoms about 2 months before having a stroke. I am also diabetic, I smoke, and I m overweight. I have suspicions that they are TIA s but my doctor says that they aren t because my speech is fine. He did take my blood pressure and it was too high 170/80. Do you think that a TIA is a possibility?

Cardiologist 's  Response
Hi i read your query.

Yes the symptoms you describe may be called a TIA but this has to be confirmed by a neurologist.

I suggest to consult a neurologist for further exams and a proper treatment.

Hope it answered to your query.
