Will Unwrapping For Icing The Heel For Temp Cast Going To Prolong The Healing Of Broken Foot?
I broke my foot yesterday, the wrapped it in a temporary cast and ace bandage. I don t have an appointment with orthopedics yet but my heel is digging into the the temp cast, and is it going to further prolong healing if i were to unwrap it to ice my heel?

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement, Dr. Mukesh Chugh's Response
Hi Thanks for writing your query If am not incorrect you have suffered fracture of heel bone and if the fracture is stable that is a simple one (x ray needs to be seen), you can remove the temporary cast which is giving you problem and do the ice fomentation and wrap the plaster again. Because continuous digging may lead to ulcer formation at heel. Take care and you may log in to http://bit.ly/drmchugh for further query along with x ray picture. Take care Dr.chugh
