Will Taking Norethisterone Prevent Heavy Bleeding Caused After Having Mirena Coil Fitted?

Hi there,
I had a mirena coil fitted 14th aug, period started 24th aug, still bleeding 3 and a bit weeks later when I went to nurse on the 17 th sept for 6 wk check, doctor prescribed me norethisterone 5mg 1 x 3 times a day, stopped the heavy bleeding but still odd spots of blood and brown discharge - is this normal?

Hello,

Heavy bleeding and clots are normal after Mirena insertion. It is nothing to be worried about. The bleeding will lessen and sometimes eventually stop altogether in some women.
