My daughter was diagnosed with toxic Leukoecephalopathy, she has speech problems, can`t balance herself, and has some memory issues. Since her diagnoses in Jan,6 of this year she has made good progress, she is able to get around with a 4 wheeled walker, speech is getting better and balance is improving, what are her chances of making a full recovery, to be able to get back to being independent again. I can`t seem to find many answers on the web for this condition or many case studies to whether people with this can make a full recovery. This is what they found on her MRI, noncontrast, there is marked T2 hyperintensity in the cerebal puduncles and deep cerebellar white matter bilaterally, with sparing of the dentate nuclei. No abnormal signal is seen in the pons or medulla. In the midbrain, there is increased T2 signal both centrally and within the cerebral peduncles. Abnormal signal extends into the posterior limbs of the internal capsule bilaterally. No abnormal signal is seen within the corpus callosum. No cortical signal is identified. On the diffusion-weighted images, the areas of T2 hyperintensity are also markedly bright however there is not a corresponding loss of signal on the ADC map, suggesting that the changes are due to T2 shine through rather than diffusion restriction. Subtle T2 signal hyperintensity is seen through the corona radiate and in the centrum semiovale bilaterally. No intracranial hemorrhage is seen. There is no mass. The ventricles are well-maintained. There is no shift of midline structures.
