Will I Have Aortic Dissection And Aortic Stinosis In Future?
Hello. I am a 28 year old female with Turner Syndrome. I am 5'1'' tall and 260 pounds, so highly obese, but that is 95% due to lifestyle issues (the worst diet imaginable and no exercise) as opposed to metabolic issues because of the Turners. I have known two women with Turners who are suffering with severe heart problems (one with an aortic dissection and one with aortic stinosis) and it is scaring me. I participated in a clinical study on Turner's at the NIH in May 2010 and they did an MRI or my heart and 2 echocardiograms and found no bicuspid valve or enlarged aorta. But I'm scared that this will just happen abruptly.
Hi welcome to HCM. Turner's syndrome is known to cause serious cardiac abnormalities like aortic valvular heart disease. The risk of being effected with aortic dissection depends the the dimensions of the enlarged aorta.A size greater than 5.5 cms on CT SCAN CHEST is highly prone for rupture.i advice you to have a periodical follow up through a semiannual 2 dimensional echo screening of your heart. As of now you are relatively free of such risks.Consult your cardiologist for further query. Thank you
