Why Would A Diabetic Patient Consuming Metformin Experience Nausea, Shortness Of Breath And Fatigue?
husband with controlled diabetes metformin 500mg 2x....1 week nausea, short of breath, fatigue after morning meal especially...1 month ago treated for small amt. pneumonia in left lung in a hospital stay for constipation and continued med at home. relation diabetes and shortness of breath???
Metformin 500mg is a medicine that causes a lot of side effects. Side effects of this medicine are: nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, cramps and increased flatulence. One rare side effect of Metformin is Lactic acidosis, that is manifested with nausea, vomiting and hyperventilation(difficult or laboured breathing). I think that your husband is experiencing these symptoms due to Metformin side effects. To continue diabetes treatment you should consult your endocrinologist, to discuss about this medicine and another alternation.
