Why Should Zolpidem Not Be Taken After Septoplasty Surgery?

I just had surgery today. Is it ok to take zolpidem (ambien) the night after a septoplasty? they told me not to take any sleeping meds post- op but didn t say why. I take zolpidem as needed (like 1/2 the time for me) depending on how I feel that night. Now with the pain and discomfort I really can t sleep.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It will be better to avoid sleeping pill on the day of surgery. You had already inhaled and injected many sedative during anaesthesia and survey and zolpidem will not be a good option at present.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
