Why Is Treatment Given To Stop Bleeding After An Abortion And Does This Affect Future Pregnancy?

my daughter had a miscarriage after 8 weeks, had to have a DnC and not a lot of bleeding after. Now about 1 week later she has heavy bleeding so her doctor gave her methylergonovine to stop the bleeding. I am confused as to why her doctor wants her to bleed then is trying to stop the bleeding. Is this going to affect her going forward as far as getting pregnant?

Hi,
Thank you for using this forum. I'm really sorry about your daughter's abortion.
The truth is usually after a miscarriage a pelvic ultrasound would confirm if there are retained products of conception, after which a D&C is usually always done if there are products. If your daughter still bleeds heavily after 1week it's possible there are still retained products.
I would advise her to have a scan done to ascertain this then after that proper intervention can be given.
Thank you very much.
Wishing her quick recovery
