Why Is Lipitor Causing Purple Patches On My Hands And Forearms?

I have been on Lipitor for quite a few years. I have unsightly purple patches on my hands and forearms. They look like I have been taking Warfarin. Five weeks ago I got a stomach infection. Eventually it was diagnosed and the G.P. put me on two different antibioctics with a warning to stop taking Lipitor for the duration I was taking the antibioctics. My skin cleared up completely. Now that I m back on Lipitor my skin has erupted again.

Hello,

Lipitor may not cause skin rash unless you're allergic to the drug. It may be due allergy to soap or clotting factor deficiency. So get PT/INR and liver function tests. Avoid hepatotoxic drugs if you're taking any. Please consult with your physician he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
