Why Does Green Bile Discharge Occur?

My 82 year old Mother has been throwing up green bile off and on over last 3 weeks. She was admitted to hospital last week and they did stomach x-rays, blood test and other MRI. They could not find anything. She had her gall bladder removed 45 years ago.

Hello and thank you for your question. Bile is produced by the liver. It helps in digestion of fats in the diet. When you have a gallbladder the bile that is made in the liver gets stored in the gall bladder then emptied out into the digestive tract when you eat. If you do not have a gallbladder then bile is constantly released from the liver in small amounts all the time. If you are sick and not eating normally then sometimes all that you have when you vomit is some fluid and the bile. It is good that they did not find any major problems with the testing. I hope she is feeling better soon. Thanks for using HCM.
