Why Did The Heart Start Pounding Very Fast After A Shower ?

I was taking a shower at and all of a sudden my heart started pounding very fast . Scary fast . I am a male at the age 24 . 165 lbs . I drink pretty frequently , at least 4 beers a night every night for the past 4 years , and recently I have not drank for 2 days . Can this be related ?

Palpitations are abnormalities in heart rate. In the normal heart beat, a signal arrives from a particular part of the heart and travels along a pathway to stimulate the rest the heart to beat.

Palpitations can occur due to temporary or permanent abnormalities to any of these areas.

To determine if there are any abnormalities, your doctor may suggest an ECG which can look at the rhythm of the heart.

Blood tests such thyroid function tests and complete blood count (to check for anemia) may also be suggestive depending on your symptoms.
