Hello,

You have missed your periods. You are married. Your pregnancy test is negative. You have not mentioned anything about your sex life, whether you are on regular CP or are having unprotected sex. If you had unprotected sex, were not on regular CP and did not take any emergency CP within 72 hours then you can be pregnant. Presently, you got a negative pregnancy test report. You are suggested to wait for a couple of days then get a repeat pregnancy test done with the first morning midstream urine. You can also get a blood tests and USG (uterus with fallopian tubes) done to confirm pregnancy or detect ectopic pregnancy.

You should get clinically examined by an OBGYN. Get per vaginal examination done to detect bulky uterus. In case you are pregnant you will be managed accordingly. If not, there may be other factors that may cause delay in menstruation like anemia, stress / over exhaustion, thyroid dysfunction, PCOS, etc. Your OBGYN will examine and you may have to get a few more routine tests done to detect the pathology causing you symptom. You will be treated accordingly.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
