Sir,I had completed femilon 21 tablet packet on 6th july.I had intercoarse with my husband on 7th july.Today it is third day but i have not having withdrawl bleeding.I want to inform you that i have used pills first time by doctor's advice.I want to know whether the intercoarse after completing packet of 21 tablet would effect my periods or why i am not having withdrawl bleeding. Please help me.
If you have used the 21 combined hormonal pills without missing the pill or altering the time of intake, it will give protection for the seven day pill free period also. After stopping the pills it will take some time to get the withdrawal bleeding. This period may vary from person to person and cycle to cycle, sometimes it may take 7 to 10 days to get the withdrawal bleeding.
So, if you want to continue the contraceptive benefit better to start a new pack after a 7 day gap of the first pack irrespective of the onset of the withdrawal bleeding. But, if you have missed any of the pill and having doubt regarding pregnancy, please go for urine or preferably blood test for pregnancy after two weeks of unprotected intercourse. If serum beta HCG levels of blood test for pregnancy are less than 5 mIU/ mL it rules out the possibility of pregnancy.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
