you have what is known as presbyopia,to be corrected by glasses, they should not increase the object size other wise they will cause headache. They should make the object clear but of the same size.Preferably once the stress passes off you may regain your previous status,in the meanwhile you can increase your working distance and increase illumination

Sir, The shingles certainly can weaken, but at your age, it is common that you need reading glasses for near work. However see an eye specialist & confirm that structurally the eyes are healthy. Herpes Zoster certainly can affect the eyes, badly. Take lot of nourishment, good & Heatlhy food. Rule out diabetes by a proper blood check. Wear the glasses whenever needed. You can continue to do exercises, travel and do desk work. Please use TEAR drops as frequently as needed. Thanks, Sincerely, Dr.M.S.Ravindra, or .com, Bangalore
