Why TIFFA Scan Is Important During Pregnancy?

Hi,my girl buddy, like me has had a complete hysterectomy,or oopherectomty. She called to say that she is feeling lots of pressure as if something is pushing it's way out of her vagina. What does she need to do,as she is not supposed to be able to have a baby. She is 55 years of age.

Hello
Thanks for writing to us with your health concern.
No she is not supposed to be having a baby at all !
A hysterectomy means removal of the uterus.
Oophrectomy means removal of the ovaries.
If she has both, or even one of these, she cant have a baby, plus she is 55 !
After hysterectomy, it is common for the bowel or bladder to prolapse.
They lose the normal support which is derived from the centrally situated uterus and cervix.
As this support is lost. the organs prolapse out.
That is why she must be feeling a dragging and pushing sensation in the vagina.
IT could lead to difficulty in urinating or passing bowel movements.
Please ask her to consult a Uro Gynecologist for complete assessment of this provisional diagnosis that I have made.
Alternatively, ask her to post a picture, or write in with more details at -

Take care.
