hi,
I have read through your question and understand your concern.
Yes there is an option, actually along with the
steroid a
local anaesthetic is injected to relieve pain.
studies now show that only local anaesthetic infiltration alone in comparison to local anaesthetic + steroid injection both have the same pain relief profile as far as the spine is concerned.
a local anaesthetic like lidnocaine 0.5 ml is suggested.
but whatever the case, as far as the spine is concerned the effect of pain relief from this proceedure is short lived varying from about 1 and half months to 3 months.
the main objective to relive pain for a longer period as long a about 1 yr or so lies in
physiotherapy after the injection.
Mc kenzie's protocol(physio therapy) is very beneficial. This should be performed despite there is no pain to develop full range of motion of the neck with reduced pain.
and personally I feel
celebrex is not a good idea for acting as a pain killer for a prolonged use.As it is associated with a substantial cardiovascular risk.
some medications such as:
chymoral forte (for reliving oedema)
aceclofenac(for decreasing inflamtion)
main treatment is based in physiotherapy and topical pain killers.
ICE serves as an excellent anti-inflamatory and pain killer , it will relieve your pain if used properly better than topical pain killers.
wish you a speedy recovery..!!
god bless..
