Which Medication To Be Taken For The Congestion In My Head And Ear?

I take hydrochlorothiazide for high blood pressure and amytriptyline for migraines. i have had a cold and now the right side of my head and my right ear are stuffed up and the ear hurts. i am told i cant take any decongestants due to my high blood pressure medication. Is there not anything i can take to break up the congestion in my head and ear? I have tried everything.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have congestion in head and ear which seems to be due to fluid accumulation behind the ear drum and due to dysfunction of Eustachian tube. I would suggest you to take antibiotic and anti-inflammatory drugs combination such as Levofloxacin along with Levocetrizine. For infection in ear antibiotic ear drops and decongestant nasal sprays can help consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated. You should go for otoscopy examination as well to find out cause and exact extent of infection. Treatment can be planned accordingly. Draining of pus can also be done by physician. Maintain cleanliness of ear and avoid pricking it.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
