I pulled a 8 cm orange flat thin thing from my anus a few days ago - I have been away on holiday (Hawaii) but sought help from my doctor before I went, for anal itching and enlarged haemmoroids. I was using a steroidal cream which helped a little while I was away, but when I was having a bath I felt something and pulled away this orange thread-like thing - a bit like a narrow peeling from a carrot. It was slightly translucent and had a darker colored ridge down the centre, with two points at both ends.. could this be a worm? Now I am back home and the itching is no better, perhaps worse. Just sitting here tapping away the itching starts up like the anal area is suddenly irritated. I also have slight diarrhoea, had an episode of strong heartburn while I was away, some nausea and loss of appetite and general discomfort. I ve looked at pictures of various human parasites but can t see a picture of what I found. Thanks.History: There was some one-time blood in my stool 4 years ago and I had a colonoscopy that was clear, and no further trouble. I am 5 4 , 83kgs, and have been treated for high blood pressure which is now stable with medication. I had a TIA 4 years ago from which I recovered well. Apart from that I am generally in good health and rarely become sick with colds, flu, etc. I am female, aged 55 and live in Australia.
