What Types Of Treatments Are Used With Heterotopic Ossification To Decrease Likelihood Of Recurrence?

What types of treatments are used with heterotopic ossification to decrease likelihood of recurrence? I have a radial implant which I have had for over 2 years. There is a lot of calicification,& scar tissue. It has impacted range of motion, affected the ulnar nerve, & increased the pain from arthritis. Which is better, surgery or can radiation be used?

hello,
There is no clear line of treatment for heterotropic ossification.
If you had been my patient then i would had suggested you the surgical removal of the bone followed by radiation therapy to prevent re-occurrence.
Physiotherapy treatment will be helpful post surgery.
Hope this helps you
