What Type Of Diet Or Foods Should Be Avoided By Patients With Kidney Problems ?

I would like to know what type of diet or foods I should avoid eating. I had some blood work done and have been told by my primary care physician said to check with my kidney specialist because my numbers have increased since my last test, not enough to indicate severe problems but I should check my diet.

Hi,
Your query regarding diet control could be best answered if you provide the results of your kidney function tests i.e, urea and creatinine. If the disturbance is profound, then you should restrict intake of salt, protein and phoshphate containing foods like foods from animal origin and potassium containing foods like banana and citrus. Having said that, the dietry restriction is only advisable with advanced degree of kidney dysfunction which can be assessed by your creatinine levels.
Best regards
