General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi, thank you for posting.

SGPT(serum glutamic-pyruvic transaminase) is an enzyme that is found in liver.
SGPT level is high when the patient suffer from these diseases: hepatitis, diabetes mellitus and congestive heart failure.
To reduce the SGPT level, first of all you should find the diagnosis.
To determine the diagnosis you need the following tests;
1. Glucose test.
2. Elisa antibody test, for Hepatitis C.
3. Abdominal ultrasound.

You can also reduce the level of SGPT by following these precautions;
1. Eliminate alcohol, coffee, spicy foods and fried foods from your diet.
2. Reduce the amount of food that you eat in a day.
3. Eat 5 meals a day(small amount).

Contact your gastroenterologist.

I hope this information is helpful.

All the best.
Dr. Behar.
