What Should Be The BMI Level For A 54yr Old During Workout?
I workout at the gym three to four times a week and according to the charts, my BMI is high. I m 54 years old, 5 9 tall, 34 waist and 222 lbs. I have been working out for 30 years and have very little body fat.How can I be considered obese relative to the charts?
Hi, Welcome to Health Care Magic , thanks for posting your query. I understand your concern. Considering your age and height, the ideal weight should range somewhere between 130-160 pounds. A BMI in range 19-26 is considered as healthy for all. By the details you have provided about height and weight, your BMI is 32 and anything beyond 30 is considered as obese. You need not necessarily have body fat to be considered as obese, even your muscle mass can be a criteria . And the gym is known to increase your muscle mass with the various exercises . Shedding aroung 40-50 pounds should be good enough for your age. Avoid junk, oily food. drink 4-5 litres of water and reduce alcohol intake if you are on it. Hope this answers your query satisfactorily and my suggestions prove helfull. Good luck with the weight loss and wish you good health. Do write back to us if you have any further queries. Regards.
