29 y/o female with recent pmhx of discectomy for L5/S1 disc herniation, for which percocet 5/325 was prescribed for pain. only other medication is 30 mg adderall IR, which was recently changed to 25 mg adderall XR for use only during school and studying for mild add ( i am advised to split pills up in 10 mg intervals as needed while studying ) ..... my question is about a recent side effect. the last 3 days i have just started the XR form of adderall, placing 1/2 of the 25mg capsules into a small piece of napkin and swallowing with soda in the morning, then adding a quarter (7.5 mg) of a 30 mg IR form of adderall every few hours as I am studying all day. I took a total of about 30 mg today between the two types, and yesterday and I have a weird side effect. My left neck, cheek, and ear feel burning hot and are bright red after about 7 hrs after starting on the medication regimen. I never noticed this with the IR regimen I was taking for the last couple of weeks before. Could this be from vasodilation or perhaps an allergic rxn from the XR salts? If it is allergic, would it normally happen mainly on one side of my face?
