Hi Sana, Welcome to HealthcareMagic Forum.
It is not Umbilical Cord but Umbilical Hernia. It is an outward bulging of the abdominal lining or part of the abdominal organs through the area around the belly button. May be she has had a Abdominal Surgery and cough earlier and Surgery is the only treatment. Since Mesh repair is done, kindly do not worry as it is the safest procedure and it wont have any side effects what so ever since mesh is under the muscle layer and not on top, it is not detectable or felt by patients, The mesh is held in place without tension. The recovery will take a week. If she has cough, it has to be treated. She has to get adequate rest and go for regular follow up. Let her go for regular Brisk walks for 30 to 40 minutes daily after a week of surgery. She needs to avoid lifting heavy weights and straining while passing stools. If she happens to develop fever, pain, discharge from wound, take her to her surgeon immediately. Is she is not diabetic or hypertensive, she needs to take healthy nutritious balanced diet which should include fresh fruits and green leafy vegetables and fruit juices and plenty of water. See to it she takes her medications regularly.

I wish her Good Health, Take Care.

Hi, I have been diagnosed with an inguinal hernia on the left side of my groin. My General Surgeon indicated that i could wait several months to have it operated on due to my intense schedule. I was wondering if there are any measures i can undertake to help manage the condition until surgery. I.e. Strapping the hernia for exercise (i surf and run), Icing post exercise, etc. Any help is greatly appreciated!! Thanks, sam.

Hi,

My Mother underwent a laparoscopic surgery for umbilical hernia repair couple of weeks ago. She is right now recovering well, her appetite seems to have opened up. Few days ago we got her CBC done, which showed her HG to be 6.5 and RBC to be 2.06. Doctor has asked to.give her 5 Vitcofol injections along with 1-1 of Folvite and Ferrium XT. Ever since.she started the vitcofol injections, she has been moderately constipated. Her stools are hard and slightly dark in color. Is this a normal side effect of Vitcofol or the Folvite and Ferrium tablets? Also, she feels chills in the body even though its not too cold. Although the.chills have reduced in last couple of days.

Kindly advise.

Thanks.
