What Medical Protocols Would Be Suggested For Someone With Two Strains Of Lyme Disease?

I m curious what medical protocols would be suggested for someone diagnosed with two strains of Lyme disease. I was diagnosed in December 2013 but had symptoms throughout the summer and Fall of that year. I have already gone through two courses of antibiotics. I currently take 5,000 IU of Vita D and some Vitamin C powder daily. My main areas of concern are my knees and eyes. I d also be interested and what type of doctor to consult as well as what other things I should be doing. My physician seems rather blase about Lymes. I am a 63 year old woman.

Hi,

Lyme is sensitive to antibiotics. It is quite unlikely to still be there. The best test we have is taking antibody levels over time and if they are declining then it is highly unlikely there is lyme present. Obviously if you took 1 tube of blood and another 20 second later, the antibody level isn't going to change. It isn't clear how long the interval needs to be to see a change but a year seems a reasonable MINIMUM amount of time.
It is unlikely to still be there.

All the other diseases similar to lyme have stayed sensitive to all antibiotics BUT, they all also have a chronic syndrome due to the damage done before curing the infection. So, if you had dementia from syphylis and cured the syphilis, the dementia wouldn't go away. Likewise, joint or nerve or brain problems from lyme won't just go away even if the disease is cured.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
