What Is The Treatment For Thin Ear Discharge?

I have a thin watery discharge from my right year. Does not smell at all. The discharge is seen only when I sleep on the right side. The discharge quantity is more once in three or 4 days. I use to have this problem when water enters into my ear when i was a kid but then the discharge use to have a foul smell. I used to use a cadidacin based ear drops for a week. Now the discharge is not having any odor and no pain in the ear, what should be my treatment. Please advise. Sam

Hello,

You have a past history of having watery discharge from your right ear. Avoid swimming pools as you will infect your ears. When you bath be very careful so that water does not enter into the affected ear. You can take a course of Augmentin or Doxycycline -100mg for relief. To reduce any inflammation or swelling in the middle ear you can take analgesics.

Stop scratching or touching your ears. Since you are getting recurrent ear infection, you are suggested to get clinically examined by an ENT. Get the required tests and investigations done. You may be told to get an audiometry test done as a routine examination & this is to stay on the safer side.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
