What Is The Treatment For Post Concussion Syndrome?

I suffered a severe concussion from a fall on July 8, 2012. For the past 3 months, I have been unable to be in situations where there is a lot of noise, people, lights. When I am, I experience tremendous pressure in my head, as if its being compressed on the sides and top. My mental condition is confusion, separation, and an out of body feeling. My walking slows down to tiny steps, I am incoherent, and mostly verbally unresponsive. Sometimes tears stream down my face. I have to be led out of the area, to a quiet setting. Theses experiences can last from minutes to hours. I am being treated for post concussion syndrome, but when I review the symptoms, mine are much more severe. I go to physical therapy here she has me doing exercises, turning my head, leaning into a wall. Theses exercises cause me to get dizzy, and move into an out of body sensation. My question... What should I be seeking for in my treatment? Cathrine Lata YYYY@YYYY

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

What I would suggest, is that first a problem at the ear level that is causing the vertigo is ruled out. an audiometry must be performed by an otorhinolaryngologist.
second, due to its antecedent, lesions are discarded at the level of the cervical spine that may correspond to its symptoms, for example, a herniated disc. in this case the best thing would be a magnetic resonance and be re-evaluated by a neurologist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
